Auslan

Our Languages program involves students learning about the Deaf Community and learning how to communicate using Auslan (Australian Sign Language). Students learn to understand and use basic vocabulary for numbers, time, family, animals, countries, everyday activities, furniture, food and occupations. Students learn the alphabet and how to construct simple questions and answers. They also learn to sign some songs. Simple instructions and vocabulary are used in other subjects to consolidate the students’ understanding and use of Auslan.
